Southbound lineup is released for 2011

We can feel it coming. It's on its way just like Christmas. The Festival season is gearing up to hit Australia and none more so than the Southbound Festival 2011. We've been eagerly anticipating the announcement of the lineup and this year it has delivered a positive truckload of awesome acts. Sitting mightily on top are electro rockers Klaxons along with Interpol with their highly anticipated new self-titled album. The National is hot on their heels with The Rapture, Hot Hot Heat and Cold War Kids.
Australian favourites will be appearing throughout the day including The Living End, Eskimo Joe, Angus and Julie Stone, Birds of Tokyo, Tame Impala, Bliss n Eso. We'll also have the prolific Paul Kelly hitting the Southbound lineup for the first time. Strangely coinciding with her biographical film release, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will also be gracing the stage and giving audiences a good dose of nostalgia. Public Enemy will be performing their top selling album Fear of a Black Planet in full. Indie favourites The Morning Benders, Marina and the Diamonds, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Ladyhawke, Jamaica and Junip will all be keeping things going throughout the three-day festival.
New acts to the top of the charts Children Collide, Dan Sultan, Dan Kelly, The Middle East, The Beautiful Girls and Ash Grunwald will make their appearance on stage along with more homegrown talent Cloud Control, Washington, Sally Seltman, Boy and Bear, Jonathan Boulet, Last Dinosaurs and Tim and Jean.
Keeping the dance floor going will be beatboxer extraordinair Beardyman, DJ Peaches, Baio (Vampire Weekend), A-Trak, Yacht Club DJs, Eden the Dee-Jay, Sampology, The Cuban Brothers, Charlie Parr, The Cool Kids, Daara J and Muscles. Additionally we'll see The Chevelles, Pond, The Chemist, The Novocaines, Scotch of St James, Grace Woodroofe, Ghost Hotel, The Silents, Split Seconds, Carus Thompson, The Growl, 6s and 7s and Boom! Bap! Pow! And this is just the beginning!
