Sneaky Sound System

Sneaky Sound SystemSNEAKY Sound System is back and better than ever with their follow-up album to their self titled debut - 2.

The band has described the new album as imitating the live sound they became famous for.

"It's definitely a lot more 'sneaky'," Daimon Downey (MC Double D) said of the new album.

"There are a lot more ebbs and flows and some really nice moments in there."

Downey revealed the new album came together a lot more easily than the first, with the obvious difference being that they had a vocalist from the beginning of the recording process.

The band didn't feel under pressure to match the success of their first album and it came as a surprise to them how easily the album came together.

"We'd already finished by the time the expectation (for a new album) came and we were happy with what we had made," Downey said.

"So now it's other people's drama."

Songs like Kansas City came together in a matter of hours after the band came to a recording session having not practiced.

"We got the inspiration from a T-shirt slogan," Downey admitted.

"So I don't really know how 'deep' it is."

However there are some heartfelt songs on the new album.

A favourite of Downey's is a song written by Black Angus called 16.

"It's a love song about having no resolve," he explained.

"It's really beautiful.

Sneaky Sound System is set to dominate the booming club culture in Australia, a trend which Downey said was a long time coming.

"I guess our culture was predominantly band orientated on the music scene but now we're heading into the next step in the landscape of music…it's really exciting."

The band originated from a successful club night known as Sneaky Sundays which is still popular after eight years.

They sky rocketed to success with the release of their debut self-titled album which featured singles like U.F.O and Pictures.

But before this Downey admitted the going was rough before they got their first break.

"When no one would release our first album that was a really tough time, that really sucked because we were really proud of what we did,"

"Everyone had this forecast for us so we had to beg and borrow off parents.

"We were in debt, we owed so much money and then it just happened."

Since then their debut self-titled album has won them two ARIA awards in 2007 for Best Dance Release and Breakthrough Artist - Album.

It also was certified double platinum later in 2007.

The release of 2 saw the band debut at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Sneaky Sound System are currently touring around Australia.
