Big Day Out 2010 announces killer lineup for Lilyworld

Lilyworld has created a Mexican plaza where you’ll lose yourself in a Kooky Karnival Mexican style. From Yucatan to Tijuana, from Playa del Loco to Citadel la Loony Lilyworld's four gringos, Signor Gringo Duckpondo, Hermano Heavy G Chico Christo and El Honcho Kronicho find themselves on a bender down Mehico way. Come join these amigos and their Latino friends as they blast their way though a fun filled fiesta complete with tequila, mules, sombreros, senioritas, mariachis and more.

You won’t want to miss the Mexican Fiasco Hour. A Mexican fiesta compete with the Huamn Pinata and Heavy Gees Extreme Feed cuisine battle. Salsa Fights and sculling comps are just the beginning. Is that Mexican Greg charging towards us?

Recharge and relax - This year Big Day Out takes another step toward punter-driven sustainability with the Pedal Powered Precinct. Pedal powered stooge-machines will be used to recharge people's mobile phones and keep the inflatable goon nice and puffed up. Relax in the shade and recharge your overworked mobile phone, courtesy of our Pedal Powered People grinding away so you can check your e-stooge twitter account while listening to adult only inappropriate insults coming from the stage.

Lilyworld 2010 proudly presents:

Before there was Kool Keith, Old Dirty Bastard or 2 Live Crew - before there was hip-hop, for that matter - there was Blowfly, performing X-rated songs with a funky groove. Many people cite Blowfly as being the first rapper with his 1980 self-pressed Rap Dirty record. Sampled by many, including: The Jurassic 5, Ice Cube, Atmosphere, P Diddy, Beyonce and Wu Tang Clan, Blowfly's sounds are a staple of modern-day hip-hop.

An innovator in the Tijuana electronic music and video scene, DJ Chuchu pumps out infectious Latin rhythms while his visual accompaniment will transport you to a familiar Cumbia fiesta. The recent wave of Cumbia music that has enveloped most of Latin America has a very active node across the border towns of northern Mexico. Tijuana’s electronic musicians have embraced this wave with gusto.

Montreal DJ and producer Poirier mixes fresh Caribbean sounds including dancehall and soca with electro to create a dance floor frenzy to rival the best Carnival celebrations around the world. Joined on stage by hype man MC Zulu, their sound is equal parts lilting calypso melodies, driving percussion and traditional chutney sounds from the West Indies. Welcome to the future of jump-and-wave riddims, with our guarantee that nuff towels will be hoisted in the air and twisted madly in appreciation. Equal parts grimey, sweat inducing and fun-as-hell, Poirier Feat. MC Zulu will lift the steamy roof of the Lilyworld well into the hot nights of mayhem and lunacy.

Femcee Maya Jupiter is looking forward to "Getting on a stage and having fun with people, sharing stories and dancing my butt off". She will bring the hip-hop sunshine to Big Day Out 2010. A former Triple J radio host, regular Channel [V] presenter and ARIA nominee, Jupiter has spent much of 2009 in Los Angeles working on her second album and injecting a healthy dose of Latin flavour to her sound. But this summer she’s heading home. Share it and shake it with Maya Jupiter at Big Day Out 2010.

According to Dave Graney, Gaylord Lovelace and Smoke Machine is Melbourne’s greatest unsigned artist. As Lovelace says "I don't do gigs baby". Lilyworld is a special unique exception. "We’ve got everything against us. We’re over 50. We’re a covers band. My voice is fucked" Why did Lilyworld book him? You have to be there to find out.

Three white bread Melbourne uber-ironic lads, Puta Madre Brothers give their take on Santa Anna and the Alamo, stompin’ guitar and drums with stage presence to match.

Lilyworld welcomes Clairy Baby Browne and The Bangin Rackettes. Smoother than silk, honey-dripping vocal quartet with style, sass and panache, these girls will take you deep into your inner souls.

Australia’s least likely World Touring rock and rollers, The Goons of Doom are set to take over Lilyworld this summer. With songs and sounds of pirates and adventures and romance on the clipper, immortalized for the hip set, the lonely loser, the sentimental soul and guttertrash fucks alike, Goons of Doom are set to surf and destroy the Lilyworld stages.

Lilyworld is also pleased to welcome everybody’s boy BAngs! direct from pre-ironic Sudan, via YouTube in Footscray. BAngs! has had a hard life, but he wants to take us to the movies.

As always, Lilyworld is proud to present more fresh talent in every city they visit.
Salsa your way down low to Mehico for music, mayhem and so much more courtesy of the Lilyworldamigos. It’s going to habanero hot.
