On the Barrier

Chemical Brothers keep quiet on vocalist; Swoon.

Mums the word for the Chemical Brothers on their new single Swoon with DJ Tom Rowlands not giving away the singer on the track. One of the first songs released from their latest album Further, Swoon features the vocal talents of either Rowland or his production partner Ed Simons but neither are going to let on which one of them laid down the track.

In a recent interview, Rowland said the reluctance to lay claim to the vocal sample was due to neither artist wishing to be the lead singer. While both have been responsible for vocal samples in previous tracks, the vocalist has always been left uncredited. "If I've got an idea and I can vaguely sing it, I'll put it in and then convince myself in a self-delusional way that I found it on some old sixties psychedelic record", Rowland was quoted as saying in an interview to Triple J.

The Chemical Brothers have been linked to several high profile vocalists who have guested on their albusm including Beth Orton, Kele Okereke, Q-Tip, Richard Ashcroft and Noel Gallagher. Their latest album Further, due for release this week, is said to not include any big name guest vocals.
