Bliss n Eso tour Flying Colours
BLISS n Eso has come a long way in the two years since they disappeared off the music radar and are back with an outrageous new album Flying Colours.
They reached world acclaim for shedding light on the distressing situation in South Africa and have been honing their music skills for their biggest album to date, Flying Colours. Flying Colours saw the band record tracks in South Africa, America and Australia, including a long stint in Jimmy Barnes' home recording studio.
Jonathon Notley aka MC Bliss took time out of his busy schedule to chat about his upcoming performances throughout Western Australia. Songs to look out for on the night are Woodstock 2008, The Sea is Rising, and Bullet and a Target which was recorded in South Africa while they did the filming of their video.
"There's a lot of variety within the songs themselves so it's hard to pigeon-hole them into one style."
"It's a multicoloured array of crazy sounds and rhythms all intertwined."
Flying Colours weaves between slow meaningful songs and head-banging party tracks.
One particular song likely to get the crowd going is Five Dollar Steak which is a high-energy song written during a jam session.
"It was a song that just came out of nowhere."
"We were in the mood for a bit of freestyle at four in morning and the producer put on this beat we'd never heard before."
"It was really rough, crazy freestyle and we were all trying to sing like old black men from 1960s."
Flying Colours has catapulted the hip hop group into the world's eye and gained them a legion of fans, new and old, that will be eagerly anticipating their tour.
Bliss n Eso will be appearing at the Homebake Festival in Sydney, Southbound Festival in Busselton, the Trackside Festival in Lyneham as well as performances in Cairns, Townsville, Mandurah, Margaret River, Perth, Launceston and Hobart.
