My Chemical Romance has announced their cancellation of the Soundwave Festival tour in Australia.

The band was forced to withdraw after singer Gerard Way was advised by his doctor to forgo the tour in order to receive treatment for the severe vocal chord problems he has been experiencing to protect their long-term use.

"We are really sorry that we’ve had to cancel this tour, and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused," Way said. "The last thing we ever want to do is cancel shows, but we’ll be back to Australia to make it up to the fans as soon as possible."

To replace My Chemical Romance, Soundwave organisers have included Jimmy Eat World on the lineup. Jimmy Eat World has consistently held the number one spot as the most requested band by Soundwave fans and has interrupted their recording schedule to do the tour.

Jimmy Eat World will now join the already massive sideshow of Glassjaw, Sunny Day Real Estate, Motion City Soundtrack and RX Bandits.
